Design Engineer Intern
You care how things look and how they are built. You will translate design into production interfaces, extend our component system, and sweat the details — motion, spacing, accessibility — that separate a good product from a generic one.
Apply for this roleThis is a paid internship
All E1 internships are paid. We confirm your hourly rate and expected weekly hours in writing before you accept, and interns are paid for every hour worked.
What you will do
- Turn designs into accessible, responsive production components
- Extend and maintain the shared design system
- Prototype interactions and motion to pressure-test ideas quickly
- Audit shipped screens for visual and accessibility regressions
What we are looking for
- Studying design, HCI, or computer science, or building equivalent skills through self-teaching, a bootcamp, or portfolio work
- Comfort writing HTML and CSS, plus some JavaScript
- A portfolio, coursework, or side projects showing visual craft
- An eye for typography, spacing, and color
Nice to have
Genuinely optional — missing all of these will not rule you out.
- Figma fluency, including components and auto-layout
- Tailwind CSS, React, or motion libraries
- Working knowledge of WCAG accessibility standards
